The Bits & Pieces Post

We are reading Dickens classic story 'A Christmas Carol' for the very first time during all our celebrations and festivities this season.

This pop up book is just divine I almost don't want to touch it.

Being the 1st of December we normally put up our Christmas tree to keep family traditions, but I am sitting here feeling quite disappointed that we don't have one up yet.

But that's okay it's a race against time to finish Vikings tales, SOTW, Blinky Bill, Seabird, some maths and English work.

We also have another student at our home who has come to learn more. He is my 18yo nephew and he is such a delight to have around. We are doing algebra (his choice) together, he is reading lovely poetry to me from Australian Verse - A Sunburnt Country and reading Robin Hood then Oliver Twist.

We have been going through all the 50 or more boxes we have had stored in our garage for 10 years finding things that we haven't seen since we moved away from Leongatha. We have been keeping some and getting rid of some and de-cluttering our home making trips to the tip and op-shop, it's full on but the place is looking wonderful.

It's so good to just get rid of 'stuff'.

My parents are in Melbourne seeing my Nana and catching up with family but my Dad will be having open heart surgery within the next week, so your prayers would be much appreciated.

I don't think the idea of 2011 being nearly over has hit me yet.

Can someone please tell me where this year has gone?

Life is so short, and the more and more I realize that the more I appreciate waking to a new morn', next to the love of my life and how I love the cuddles I get from my children everyday.

I finished reading our devotion last night and my son comes over to me, puts his arms around me and says "you are such a lovely reader Mum".

So blessed!

  3. Hasn't the year flown by so fast! I'm thinking of reading A Christmas Carol to our children too. The older ones read it last year and enjoyed it. Just found out AO has a great list if Christmas readers on their site. Now, just need to find time to bake, read, make presents and do some home organizing!! Mel x
