Rain...and all that comes with it!

Can I just talk about rain for a minute with you? Is that okay? It's on my mind and I just want to express my thoughts!

Can you believe all that rain does?

How too little of it brings devastation to our farmers, land and crops.

How too much of it does damage to streets, houses and businesses.

This time last year Victoria was mourning from the loss that came with the fires on black Saturday. This year we are seeing rain in a huge abundance.

There is only one answer for why we are receiving so much rain ~ God's people praying.

Two weeks ago Australia received 4 days of straight rain along the East Coast, starting from Cairns, QLD, right down to Melbourne, Vic! It was that beautiful rain that just falls hard enough to keep you inside, and soft enough to not flood, but to soak beautifully into the ground.

The Lord had certainly opened the heavens and through His goodness poured out his water on the earth.

This photo is taken on the balcony of our B&B front water view apartment the day after all the rain had stopped and the droplets of rain on the trees looked like earings!

This year we have had the biggest crop of sweet basil that we have ever had. Truly the bush is nearly 1 metre high. Yesterday I picked a quarter of it and made pesto to freeze and we also had it in our pasta for tea.

I LOVE basil! I If you don't already know I love Italian food and
I really do (like to believe) think I have a little Italian in my blood!

While I was relishing in the basil, Joshua & Grace were delighting in all the corn they planted and now harvesting. We are all lovers of corn...so good!

To top it all off we have been picking mouth watering raspberries. Being everyone's favourite berry in this household, our rule is to pick them, put them on the table and to share them out.

Divine indeed!

Thank you Jesus for the rain!

"Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops." ~ James 5:18

"He will also send you rain for the seed you sow in the ground, and the food that comes from the land will be rich and plentiful. In that day your cattle will graze in broad meadows."
~ Isaiah 30:23

Nature Study and being in the right place at the right time!

Oh yes, isn't she a beauty?
A love of Nature, implanted so early that it will seem to them hereafter to have been born in them, will enrich their lives with pure interests, absorbing pursuits, health, and good humour” - Charlotte Mason (Vol. 1, p. 71).

This magnificent butterfly Joshua spotted, while we were in Merimbula last Monday! She was just sitting in the tree looking delightful.

After a good hour of web research I finally identified this wonderful creature...

She is an Orchard swallowtail (papilio aegeus)

Today the children and I found out they are common to Brisbane, QLD and that there food plants are orange and lemon trees. Charlotte Mason encouraged that we don't go into a full depth study of all new things we discover, especially while they are little, so we just learnt the basics of this little beauty!

"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." Revelation 4:11

Just beautiful...

I stumbled across these absolutely delightful snow leopards and just had to display their beauty on my blog.
