Rain...and all that comes with it!

Can I just talk about rain for a minute with you? Is that okay? It's on my mind and I just want to express my thoughts!

Can you believe all that rain does?

How too little of it brings devastation to our farmers, land and crops.

How too much of it does damage to streets, houses and businesses.

This time last year Victoria was mourning from the loss that came with the fires on black Saturday. This year we are seeing rain in a huge abundance.

There is only one answer for why we are receiving so much rain ~ God's people praying.

Two weeks ago Australia received 4 days of straight rain along the East Coast, starting from Cairns, QLD, right down to Melbourne, Vic! It was that beautiful rain that just falls hard enough to keep you inside, and soft enough to not flood, but to soak beautifully into the ground.

The Lord had certainly opened the heavens and through His goodness poured out his water on the earth.

This photo is taken on the balcony of our B&B front water view apartment the day after all the rain had stopped and the droplets of rain on the trees looked like earings!

This year we have had the biggest crop of sweet basil that we have ever had. Truly the bush is nearly 1 metre high. Yesterday I picked a quarter of it and made pesto to freeze and we also had it in our pasta for tea.

I LOVE basil! I If you don't already know I love Italian food and
I really do (like to believe) think I have a little Italian in my blood!

While I was relishing in the basil, Joshua & Grace were delighting in all the corn they planted and now harvesting. We are all lovers of corn...so good!

To top it all off we have been picking mouth watering raspberries. Being everyone's favourite berry in this household, our rule is to pick them, put them on the table and to share them out.

Divine indeed!

Thank you Jesus for the rain!

"Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops." ~ James 5:18

"He will also send you rain for the seed you sow in the ground, and the food that comes from the land will be rich and plentiful. In that day your cattle will graze in broad meadows."
~ Isaiah 30:23

  3. Hello Sarah,

Praising the Lord with you! I love rain, since I grew in the rain forest of Brazil ;) Sometimes I just stop ands remember the sound of it, specially on very hot days long summer days here in the US.
Your Basil looks beautiful, I too like basil, but never had it as tea. Love corn, this we grew last year.

  4. Oh Sarah, you make me smile! I have had the same thoughts about all our snow. It is SO beautiful when it falls, but can cause so much trouble for travelers. Even though I couldn't wait for it to snow, now I am so ready for it to be gone. Fickle person that I am! Loved this post...absolutely wonderful the way you praise our creator! (Also, this is truly funny...just made a pesto sauce myself last night. I keep trying different recipes but can't find one that I just LOVE. I think I have told you before, I too am SUCH a lover of Italian foods!! If you have a good pesto recipe, I'd love to try it!) Have a marvelous day!

  5. Oh, those raspberries look YUM! I think today is our 7th day straight of rain - although it is beginning to ease up a bit now. It has been lovely, and I have been particularly enjoying the site of our now full dams up here. What a blessing.

  8. I know we are not to covet, but I am struggling with this, sister, because of the pics you put up! I can't believe your beautiful herbs and produce!

By the way, I would love to know how to make presto and how to freeze the basil. I grew some, but am just not very good about knowing what to do with it. :)

  9. Hi Sarah,
Praise the LORD for the rain - it makes everything feel so fresh and new, doesn't it?

When I was talking with our teacher from Australian Christian College, he said that he had had 200 mm of rain in two days, and there was more expected - amazing!

    Have a wonderful week,
    Blessings,
    Jillian ♥
