iRelate conference highlights

Last night David & I attended the first night of a relationship conference. It was so good, funny and true. I feel so encouraged when other married couples go through what we do. Sometimes you think your the only ones having these issues, only to discover that the issues are totally normal and that most couples will have them.

I wrote like crazy, taking as many notes as I could to go back over with Dave.

The couple undertaking the meeting have been married for 30 years and are absolutely gorgeous. They both had 5 points each on what men and woman want most.

I would like to share a point from each sex.

WHAT MEN WANT~

1. A fulfilling sexual relationship.

Theyspoke how God has wired Males this way, they are very attracted to the outside and are switched on as quickly as turning on a light (that's no surprise)!

WHAT WOMAN WANT~

1. Affection.

Woman want to be nourished and cherished. We want to feel the love flowing in our hearts.

I'm sure you all know this, but it's very important in a marriage.

The couple brought up the five love languages that all humans have. Years ago I read the five love languages for children and certainly found it helpful as a parent to know how to fill their love tank.

But recently I just took the 5 love language quiz which is made up of 30 questions and this is my score~
Love Language Scores:

10 Words of Affirmation

7 Quality Time

4 Receiving Gifts

2 Acts of Service

7 Physical Touch

The highest score is how I mostly feel loved.

I love this!

If you would like to take the quiz you will find it here.

Let us know your love language when you do it!

The 2nd night is on tonight and I am so EXCITED to have this opportunity to learn, grow and improve my marriage through the grace of God.

  1. Love languages are really interesting - I read about them about 15 or more years ago, and even though my love language has changed a little over the years, every time I take the test, the answer holds true for my current personality. (Not that this means I have multiple personalities, but our personality does change over time with circumstances and marriage and having children etc!)

My love language is Quality Time, followed by Words of Affirmation. :)

I've never been to a conference like the one you're going to, but it sounds interesting! :)

  3. Sounds great Sarah! We have just finished a series called "imarriage" by Andy Stanley in our small group. It was funny enlightening and great! You're right that all married couples go through similar things but we often feel like we're the only ones lol!

  5. I took the quiz, too. My highest was affirming words, followed closely by quality time and physical touch. I just saw my blog in your blogroll. Thanks!

  6. I will take that quiz in a moment. I would love to go to a marriage seminar to learn how to make my marriage stronger, but my husband isn't into this sort of thing.
