There is so much going on around here as I am sure there is at your place.
Right now my husband has the vacuum going, my son has lit a fire (permitted by Dad) and wants to wrap potatoes in foil to cook despite being very ill with the silly flu, my daughter is making up games loudly in the bath whilst she has the bad flu.
The B&B is picking up now coming into warmer weather and we have had two apartments to clean today whilst I have the silly flu and that time of the month, but don't feel sorry for me...please...just say a little prayer for us.
Also my lovely parents in law left this morning after looking after our B&B for the last 3 months while we were in Geelong, and that was emotional.
Collingwood are in the grand final tomorrow and I must say I'M EXCITED about that.
We are on school holidays and I think it's maybe the second time it's fallen at the same time with the school system. It's nice to be on holidays for I have flipped out a few times in the last week, just because of stress and training children and me just not taking everything to God in prayer.
But generally I am happy, just happy!
Right now I am reading 'The Shack' by Paul Young and am finding this fiction book absolutely incredible and I have a quote that I want to leave with you to ponder and then I would love for you to respond to this blog post expressing how this quote relates to you and how.
Would you do that for me? I would just love to know!
"Growth means change and
change means risk, stepping
from the known to the unknown.
~ Author Unknown
sarah, I have missed you in blog land! Sorry you are all a little sick with the flu:( I have not read The Shack yet. But that quote for me means: that if I'm not being in a place where I'm constantly having to rely on God then I am not growing - because when there is growth, things are changing and risks being taken which force me to rely on God:)
ReplyDeleteI am involved in a new church plant right now and yes, it's a risk, stepping into the unknown ....:)
When I read your quote I thought about the Scripture, "We walk by faith, not by sight." And, in that walk by faith, sometimes the Lord has us take steps and there isn't actually ground under our feet yet.
ReplyDeleteIf you like "The Shack", I would recommend "Rooms" by Jim Rubart. He is in my writers' group in WA and had his book launching with Paul Young, author of "The Shack."

Good to have contact with you again, as we both resume our lives to somewhat normal? schedule.
Hi Sarah,
ReplyDeleteWow, what a quote! it made me think of another quote I know of it, as I read it..
"You will either step forward into growth or you will step back into safety" by Abraham Maslow
Good to hear from you. Keep encouraged. You are a blessing!(((hugs))
Katia
Great to hear from you ladies...I've missed you! It's encouraging to hear your feed back on change and yes we certainly walk by faith and not by sight as followers of Jesus. xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Sarah, I thought I'd pop over and meet you on your own blog - thanks for the comment on my blog! :)
ReplyDeleteThe quote is a good one... for me it speaks of having a relationship with the Lord that is not just a one-way street. If we want to have a relationship with Him, we have to allow Him to have a relationship with us... this leads to growth in us, and when we grow it often involves huge changes that often feel like a risk to us because we are just humans. Of course from God's perspective it isn't a risk, because He already knows the end from the beginning - He sees the big picture and knows how it will all turn out! And yes that is the "unknown" for us!! :)
This was a good challenge, to sit and really think about what that quote could mean for me. I enjoyed it! :)
Hi Sarah, I have popped over from Clara's blog. I have avoid reading The Shack because it has been so popular and that doesn't always means quality. But you have made me consider reading it.
ReplyDeleteFollowing the Lord is all about trust. It is a about closing ones eyes, placing our hand in His and completely trusting Him - he won't put us in any danger-there is no risk, however we think there is so try to take control, then of course things do go wrong. Thank-you for sharing the poem.
Clara I love this ~ "Of course from God's perspective it isn't a risk, because He already knows the end from the beginning - He sees the big picture and knows how it will all turn out! And yes that is the "unknown" for us!! :)"
ReplyDeleteOn top of that we know His word says God will not put us through anything we cannot handle. Thank so much fro dropping by and sharing your thoughts!
Hey Jo, I was avoiding 'The Shack' too until I was at a very close friends place whom I have great respect for, and saw that she had the book and she had read it, and I asked for her opinion. Well now I am forming my own opinion whilst being discerning and led by the Holy Spirit. Thank you for dropping by, I am on my way over to your space! xxx
ReplyDeleteOh, Sarah, I can tell you are a passionate person!
ReplyDeleteIf we never stepped into the unknown, how would our grasp of faith ever be enlarged? Faith truly is an act.
Thanks for the invitation to ponder the quote. I've enjoyed everyone's comments.
Lovely re-papering job on your blog!
Thanks for dropping by Richele! Since it is Spring here in Aus I was looking for a blossom look! xxx
ReplyDeleteGood morning Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI hope you all recover from the flu very soon.
That quote seems to describe my life in a nutshell.
