Alive & Living

"When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love."

--Marcus Aurelius

Sitting here this morning and I think 'here we go again'.

Packing our stuff, getting ready to go away for about 9 months. Not on a holiday but for other work that my husband does. We have trained my niece to manage and run the B&B whilst we are not here and she will do a marvelous job. What a great opportunity for her.

All sorts of mixed emotions are floating around me, I am happy and sad, and when these two emotions collide you know your alive.

I'm alive, I can feel my heart beating.

Jesus said "I have come to give you life and life to the full".

Ever since I gave my life to Jesus and sought His will and kingdom my life has been full. There is no way ten years ago I could of imagined I am where I am today, doing what I am doing without some diploma behind me.

That just goes to prove that God can take any life and turn that life completely around. God gets the glory, not the schools or universities or even my own efforts.

In the five years that I have been a business owner I have lost who I thought were close friends, I have had a close friend say 'never believed you would do it'. Recently I had a friend say 'did you do an interior decoraters course'? Or did you go to business school?

We have had others say, 'starting a new business breaks marriages', 'you can't run a self contained B&B with children' OR my favourite 'you can't home school and have a business, you will have to put your children in school'.

To be honest I was actually shocked at the start that the majority of people were so unsupportive. I soon learnt that people don't like to see you step out of the boat and follow your dreams.

But once again who gets the glory?

Is the person who has studied all there life and has many degrees better in Gods eyes than the homeless man wondering where he is going to sleep tonight?

This world does have classes. People will not be your friend unless you are in a certain class, or they will be your friend because of your class, your status, your money, your rewards, and your degrees.

Today I sit here and my confidence is not based on some class, I don't love myself better because I have a beautiful family and B&B, I don't think I am in a higher class because I know how to furnish our apartments with nice decor without a course behind me.

God gets the glory. He has made me in His image and told me I am His princess.

God doesn't love me more because of my life today. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He loves me because He is love.

"But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners."
~ Romans 5:8

Today I know that I am a sinner saved by grace.

I love the fact that tomorrow we will drive out of this place knowing that my God has gone before us. I love being alive at this time on earth.

I love people.  All kinds of people.

Not because they are on the streets with no home or because they are very successful, but I love them because Jesus died for them. He loves people.

What is the point of this post?

I think the point is, all that happens in our lives God is the one who gets the glory.

We are loved just because he loves us not because of anything else.

I'm alive today and living because Jesus went to the cross.

Thank you my precious Jesus.

"But whatever I am now, it is all because God poured
out his special favor on me"
~ I Corinthians 15:10

  1. Beautiful thoughts giving glory to the Lord. Your love for the Lord is always so heart warming. It would be hard to leave for 9 months, I'm encouraged by your ability to follow your husband, going where he goes, letting his people be your people. The Lord will bless you for this! I hope you keep blogging for the next 9 months. :)

  4. Satan has deceived the whole world Rev 12:9, until he is bruised by a woman Gen 3:15 who delivers the true word John 1:1 to the whole world Rev 12:5, 13 from the wilderness Rev 12:6 as a witness. The deception that God will put any child of his in a hell fire is a lie of the devil and is now proven by the word of God at http://minigoodtale.blogspot.com Satan's lies are exposed not one child of God will go into a hell fire no matter what their sin. It has never entered the heart or mind of God to ever do such a thing Jer 7:31, Jer 19:5. Prophecy is fulfilled. Do as God says and prove all things.
    Check out this amazing grace.

  6. From your heart, well said and I loved reading it!
Very true Sarah! I love the scripture that says God chooses the foolish things of this world to confound the wise, because I was one of them(foolish):)
