Never walking alone

Tears flowed this morning as my dear husband left for a job for the next 3-6 weeks. I always think I won't cry, we'll be okay, but when it comes to the crunch I just can't hold the tears back.

After he left, the children and I went for a walk on
one of our beaches, in the car on the radio I heard the beautiful hymn
'Just a closer walk with thee' and my soul soared and I
came back home and just played the hymn over
and over and over and cried and cried

This woman is so thankful that My God is with me all the time.

Just a closer walk with Thee,

Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,

Daily walking close to Thee,

Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

I am weak, but Thou art strong;

Jesus, keep me from all wrong;

I’ll be satisfied as long

As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

Through this world of toil and snares,

If I falter, Lord, who cares?

Who with me my burden shares?

None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.

When my feeble life is o’er,

Time for me will be no more;

Guide me gently, safely o’er

To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore

  1. oh Sarah, it must be hard for you! Is he gone for work purposes?

    I am so glad you found peace and strength in Him. I know it is hard to be 'alone' as such, but it really is a blessing in the sense that your will grow stronger in your walk with Him, and able to draw ever closer to His heart. Sometimes He leaves us no room to turn, but into Him.

    Love and blessings,
    Amanda.

  3. It must be very lonely with your husband away for such a long time, but with God you will never be alone. Aren't hymns such a comfort. The author of so many of the old hymns wrote them to provide comfort, I like to find out who the author is and why they wrote hymns, some are very interesting stories.

    Sending you a and may God be with you over the next few weeks. God has a reason for this seperartion, look for what he wants you to learn.

    Blessings
    Jo

  5. Sarah, big hugs to you! It's so hard when your man has to go away isn't it. I struggled through 12 weeks of mine being away for work last year...at least he was home for most weekends though. I think I was totally wiped out by the end of it! I actually slept in the kids room some nights - just for the company :) Let me know if you ever want to chat - you can send me a message on fb. 8. For years my husband traveled for work. The main thing I learned was to pray for the Lord's protection when the head of the household was away and to have others pray very specifically for this area. Pray for protection in every area, mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual. Stay strong in the Word, let the Lord's words continue to guide you. I love how your heart immediately turned to praise and worship when you felt those first pangs of loneliness. I'm also glad you miss him. That is sign of a good marriage. :)
